Classic and collector car fans enjoyed a week-long celebration of some of the rarest and most recognizable cars in the world, including a custom built 2013 Chevrolet Camaro COPO 2 Door Coupe (Lot #427) owned and built by Richard Rawlings, owner of Gas Monkey Garage in Dallas, TX and star of Discovery Channel’s Fast N’ Loud. On Saturday August 10th, vehicle owner George Poteet from Collierville, Tenn, builder Troy Trepanier from Manteno, Ill., and Jack Trepanier, general manager of Rad Rides by Troy, were awarded the Barrett-Jackson Cup for their custom 1969 Ford Torino.
“Bringing our auction and the inaugural Barrett-Jackson Cup to Hot August Nights proved to be a successful and exciting experience for all involved,” said Craig Jackson, Chairman and CEO, Barrett-Jackson. “We’re very happy with this partnership and so proud of the event we brought to Reno Tahoe. We hope to make this a tradition for years to come.”
To enhance the planned successful inaugural lifestyle event, Barrett-Jackson partnered with the producers of the upcoming movie, Snake & Mongoose to showcase the iconic Hot Wheels Yellow and Red Haulers and the ‘Cuda and Duster Funny Cars raced by legendary drag racers Don “The Snake” Prudhomme and Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen. This display was the first time these cars had been together outside of California in 40 years and was the first of many stops during a U.S. tour, which will include a display at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas in September, ultimately leading up to the cars crossing the block at Barrett-Jackson’s 43rd annual Scottsdale Auction held January 12 to 16, 2014.
Keeping in line with Barrett-Jackson’s philanthropic efforts, the auction house helped to raise $620,000 for national charitable organizations bringing the total amount raised to-date to more than $55.9 million. Two charitable vehicles were sold during the auction, including the first 2014 Cadillac CTS V-Sport 4 Door Sedan (Lot #3001), which sold on Friday for $120,000 and benefited the SAE Foundation. Also sold was the last retail 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible (Lot #3002), which sold on Saturday and benefited the Brain Injury Association of America. This one of a kind vehicle sold for $500,000.

We’re looking forward to coming back next year!” said Barrett-Jackson President, Steve Davis.
